Gaydon, 4 May 2010. Two Aston Martin DBR9s crossed the line in a one-two at the weekend’s second round of the FIA GT 1 World Championship. Official Aston Martin Racing Partner; Team Young Driver AMR took the chequered flag shortly before official partner team, Hexis AMR.

In a frustrating turn of events and after podium celebrations were concluded, the no. 7 car which had crossed the line in first, of Darren Turner (GB) and Tomas Enge (CZ) was excluded from the results by the race stewards because the underfloor skid plank was worn marginally beyond the permitted minimum thickness. The result of the race remains provisional, as the team has appealed against the ruling.

The Hexis AMR car of Thomas Accary (FR) and Frédéric Makowiecki (FR), despite a 15 second penalty for not serving a drive through penalty within the required three laps during the race, remained in second in the official race results. The second Young Driver AMR car of Christoffer Nygaard (DK) and Stefan Mücke (D) finished in fifth after being hit by another car early in the race causing a puncture forcing Mücke to pit. From the back of the field both drivers showed amazing speed to return to the top five before the chequered flag.

Aston Martin also completed a one-two in the qualifying race on the Saturday with the no.9 Hexis Racing AMR of Frederic Makowiecki and Thomas Accary leading home the no.10 sister car of Jonathan Hirschi (CH) and Clivio Piccione (FR).

A full race schedule at Silverstone also saw the opening two rounds of the FIA GT3 European Championship. Manuel Rodrigues (F/P) and Frederic Makowiecki of Hexis AMR got their season off to a promising start by coming home in second place in race two.

Also, in the opening two rounds of the GT4 European Cup, Aston Martin scored a stunning double one-two finish. The Rhesus Racing Vantage GT4 of Paul Meijer (NL) gained maximum points after winning rounds one and two, while Michael Mallock (GB) followed him home in both races. Copyright 2010 Aston Martin
